Measuring the level of solid and powder materials in order to estimate the inventory is one of the challenges of solid material tanks such as silos. Due to the fact that in these tanks, the materials are not placed in a uniform shape and often have a conical shape (facing up or down), to estimate the inventory of the tank, it is necessary to model this asymmetrical and non-uniform shape so that the materials in it can be measured. The 3D laser scanner with two degrees of freedom in the Pan and Tilt axes, scans the surface of the material inside the tank and measures the distance between the points on the material and the roof of the tank with an accuracy of 1 mm. This device easily measures distances of up to 100 meters in harsh conditions such as the presence of dust, suspended particles, great depth and uneven surfaces with an accuracy of one millimeter. The device manufactured by RSCO uses a 650 nm laser (red visible light) for distance measurement.
